Matthew J. Erickson
Matthew Erickson is a business-minded advocate who brings an aggressive, innovative, and results-oriented approach to all of his cases.
Prior to joining the firm, Matthew provided businesses and individuals with a wide range of tax services as part of one of the “Big 4” consulting firms. There he gained invaluable experience working with complex, high-dollar value cases and tax planning for some of the world’s most iconic companies. Matthew has analyzed and authored many tax opinions on a wide range of subjects covering a variety of jurisdictions.
Before working at the consulting firm, Matthew was a Deputy Attorney General for the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, where he represented the New Jersey Division of Taxation, the Division of Revenue, and various County Boards of Taxation in a variety of different courts. His work gave him significant experience in tax controversies involving business taxation, individual taxation, real property taxation, estate taxation, and sales and use taxation.
After law school, Matthew served as a law clerk to the Honorable Kathi F. Fiamingo, a Judge sitting as part of the Tax Court of New Jersey. There he researched and wrote many Tax Court opinions involving both State and Real Property Taxation. While in law school, Matthew served as both a volunteer and a student director of the law school’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program which helped many low-income New Jersey residents get their individual tax returns prepared for free.
Matthew currently leverages his experience representing both the State of New Jersey and Fortune and Global 500 companies to provide high-quality, cost-effective tax services to businesses and individuals.
Matthew is a retired veteran of the United States Armed Forces.
